a space for me & a prototype

I finally found/made some more time this weekend to tidy up my new sewing space a bit as well as do a little sewing.

My new sewing space: just off the kitchen in our 'sunken' family room. See? the boys can gaze at me through the railing from the kitchen.

This is the bookshelf that Opa Buikema made for me while I was in university. Hoping it's okay to store fabric on it too? Top shelf is dedicated to projects planned. The right side is flannel for baby receiving blankets. The basket holds a fishing game I've been working on for the boys. The left side is a stack of fabric for the following...

Here is the prototype of item #1 from me to go into our Etsy shop (soon to be opened).
I'm nearly happy with the little zipped bag. Just a couple tweaks and it'll be just right!

The lining inside
(does blogger ever do this to you? I can't get this pic to upload right side up!)

The stack of fabric from 'the left' ready for cutting and sewing.
Now to find/make the time...
(#5,6 & 7 from the bottom are "Bloom & Grow" (Riley Blake) from I've got it on order in pink too!)

if you build it

The boys of this household have been very busy over the last month building a hockey rink for the winter. The boys have skates waiting for their little feeties, helmets waiting for their noggins and are so excited to learn to skate. Mike was sure to build it large enough that he could have a good skate and a decent game of hockey for the adults too.

Leveling the ground

Opa and his skid steer helped ALOT!

a tree in the way of the growing rink

Logan learning the ropes from his big brother

Logan had his first ride in Opa's skid steer. What a thrill!

Treats from Oma -- it's never too cold for an ice cream bar. (and I firmly believe this.)

It's a bit of a walk between the house and rink.

So while the boys are hoping for snow and cold weather, I'm REALLY enjoying the beautiful warm weather we're having right now. And I hope it lasts for a while.

This little girl is growing! and since I haven't shown her off since August, (drumroll, please!) here is Paityn!

A big smile as she shows off her cute little outfit from Holland.

A more favourable moment in her bumbo chair.
Paityn really doesn't like it all that much and tries her best to escape. (she's nearly been successful too!)

Paityn will always settle and fall asleep with soft blankie on her cheeks.

Carter and Logan introduced Paityn to the giggling duck today. It does have a very infectious laugh and she loved it.

Good night!
